Caregiver respite care allows the caregiver to better carry out caregiving duties. Involving family and friends may be necessary in order to effectively care for someone, providing breaks when needed. Recognizing one’s and others’ limitations and realistic capabilities can reduce the stress that often comes when feeling alone and overwhelmed. Talking with family or close friends and coming up with a plan in which all involved help as much as they honestly can, can also lessen the load by distributing responsibilities. Many hands make light work. When people offer to help, take them up on it and see how they may be able to fit into the plan.
